Self-catered accommodation
In self-catered accommodation, communal kitchens are fully equipped with fridge/freezers, oven, microwave, toaster and kettle as well as a dining table and chairs.
Self-catered rooms are available in all our residences.
Why choose self-catered?
- Enhance your cooking skills
- Cook what you want when you want
- Have fun cooking with friends
Want a break from cooking? Eat in the nearby campus cafes, the Stannary (our canteen) or the bar, all offer a range of options during the week.
At the Stannary you can pay as you go or buy vouchers to cover your meals. The campus shop sells a variety of essential food items, and there is also a large supermarket nearby in Penryn.
Catered accommodation
You can choose our catered accommodation option if you don’t want to cook and prefer to have your meals prepared; we offer this option if you choose to live in Glasney Student Village. This can make planning meals and budgeting easier as meals are included in your accommodation fee. The catered option includes breakfast and dinner, Monday to Friday in the Stannary (10 meals a week) for 36 weeks of the 40 week contract. Catering for two weeks during the Christmas and Easter break is excluded. Visit the catered halls page for further information including sample menus.
Your flat will still have a kitchen to use at the weekends or whenever you wish. You will also live with other catered students so you can dine out together.
To apply for this option, select Glasney Student Village and ‘catered option’ when making your application in Room Service.
Accessible rooms and additional requirements
We have a number of rooms adapted for students with accessibility requirements in both Glasney Student Village and The Sidings. They have been modified for students with a range of disabilities and additional requirements. These are the same facilities but may include, for example, grab rails or an en-suite wet room.
If you are living with disability or health condition that requires consideration or adjustments with regards to staying in our accommodation, please complete the ‘Accessibility Questionnaire’ at the end of the application on Room Service (the accommodation application portal).
You will be asked to provide medical evidence to the Accessibility Team to support your condition and request. The Accessibility Team will then review your case to ensure you have the right support in place and liaise with the Accommodation Team regarding any accommodation needs, they have approved.
We're happy to discuss individual requirements with students who have disabilities, and we encourage you to contact the Accommodation and Accessibility Teams at an early stage so we can make sure we consider your needs when allocating rooms.
