Molly

Molly is a first year law student from Devon. She’s the first in her family to go to university, and took part in our Exeter Scholars programme, which supports the further education of people from under-represented backgrounds.

I first visited the university at age 14 for a residential and it sparked my ambition to work towards getting a place. When deciding on a university, I looked for a real campus and community feel as well as somewhere that would challenge me academically and provide the opportunities I need to reach my full potential.

During my A-levels I took part in extra-curricular activities and applied for the Exeter Scholars Programme, which allowed me to get a sense of university life and the learning that comes with it. I was nervous to move to a new place but as soon as I arrived, I met the people that I now consider to be my best friends.

Settling into Law School has been a challenge; understanding a new way of learning and adapting to a new level of workload is a big thing to get used to! There are difficult days when it comes to studying and feeling homesick, but with the support of my friends and the university welfare team, I’m even more determined to embrace the challenges that occur and use them to flourish. I am excited for what comes next in my university journey.
