Women in Mining UK Scholarship 2024

About the award

Women in Mining UK and the CSM Trust are delighted to offer two £9,000 scholarships for exceptional female students (one UK and one International) enrolling in 2024 on a mining-related course.

The scholarships will be awarded at the panel’s discretion to the applicants considered most deserving of the award. The successful candidates will be expected to take part in activities to promote women in mining.

The scholarships can only be awarded to female students who have an offer of a place to study at Camborne School of Mines at the University of Exeter on one of the following programmes:

  • MSc Mining Engineering
  • MSc Mining Environmental Management
  • MSc Minerals Processing
  • MSc Exploration and Mining Geology
  • MSc Geotechnical Engineering

The scholarship will be awarded as a cash bursary, paid in two equal instalments at the start of the autumn and spring terms upon confirmation of enrolment.

How to apply

Once you have received the offer of a place to study, please return to this page to access the scholarship application system and apply for the award.

Scholarship recipients are selected on merit, based on the information supplied in the scholarship application. To apply, you must: ·

  • Complete and submit an online application form here. You will need your Exeter student number to submit your scholarship application.
  • You will be asked to upload a covering letter - a personal statement (of up to 500 words) that responds to the following: How will this scholarship help you to pursue your studies and career and encourage other female students into the mining sector.

You should apply at the earliest opportunity following receipt of your programme offer. In the event of statements of similar quality, preference may be given to applications for courses with the lowest proportion of female applicants.

Applicants will be notified of the outcome by email two weeks after the application deadline.
