The GB government has committed to achieving a fully decarbonised power system by planning significant wind power. However, intermittent wind is difficult to predict. Furthermore, climate change, resulting in more recurrent and intense extreme weather events, can even disrupt energy system infrastructure. To tackle these challenges, this project aims to utilise existing flexibility to cost-effectively enhance the resilience of the future low-carbon energy system.

The University of Exeter’s Department of Engineering is inviting applications for a PhD studentship to commence on 3 February 2025 or as soon as possible thereafter.  For eligible students the studentship will cover Home or International tuition fees plus an annual tax-free stipend of at least £19,237 for 3.5 years full-time, or pro rata for part-time study. The student would be based in the Department of Engineering in the Faculty of Environment, Science and Economy at the Streatham Campus in Exeter.

This is a 3.5 year PhD studentship.
