I worked for four years as a sales engineer in an IT company before choosing to come to Exeter. My undergraduate degree was in environmental information studies and I was looking for a masters that combined tech with business. I was mainly looking at the UK as a masters here takes only one year and this fitted with work – I’ve taken a leave of absence from my job, they’ve been really supportive!
I got a scholarship from the University and it was a really nice surprise! It’s really helped me to afford the tuition fee and is one of the reasons I chose to come to Exeter.
My course is exactly what I imagined, in a good way – this makes me happy. I’m learning programming and IT as well as marketing and strategy. One of the most interesting modules looks at how a business model is created using IT. I definitely want to do a work placement and am looking for something in Data Analytics.
I’ve just been paired with a mentor who I found through the Career Zone. I’m really excited about it because it’s an opportunity to meet someone in the UK IT industry. She works at Facebook and I’m hoping that this will help me find new opportunities.
When I was looking for a university I thought I should look for a calm place to study. I think Exeter is a really good place for this – the facilities are great and it is a beautiful campus, so big and spacious.
