5 subject activity sessions will take place on the University of Exeter Streatham campus in Exeter, Devon, and 1 will take place on the Penryn campus in Penryn, Cornwall

In today's environment of rapid global, social, technological, and cultural transformations, Politics and International Relations are some of the most relevant and exciting programmes of study. Politics focuses on national affairs, domestic policies, and political theories, concepts and ideologies, while International Relations focuses on political issues and foreign affairs affecting the world today. In this dynamic programme, you will examine the past, present and future and how they interconnect and develop critical thinking, diplomacy, communication, empathy, research, and analytical skills. You may explore and debate challenging topics such as party politics, voting, political systems, war, terrorism, protest, activism, civil rights, education, the media, social data, power, equality, etc. examining political issues from a national and international perspective. 

The sessions will comprise a mix of interactive activities run by researchers across departments and opportunities to interact with current students, in addition to meeting professionals in the field that have put their degrees into practice. Along the way, you will be supported by key members of staff and student ambassadors who will offer guidance on applying to university and will be available to discuss any practical concerns you may have.  

In times of upheaval and change, Politics and International Relations is the ideal programme to better understand and explore political events, topics, and issues and provide you with the opportunity to join the global conversation. Discover how politics and international relations has shaped and continues to shape the world as we know it, and how action in this interconnected field, from political decisions to international collaboration can ignite change and make a difference. If you have an interest in how political concepts and issues affect you and many others, and you want to be empowered to voice your own opinions, this is the course for you!

This subject activity strand has contributions from the following departments:

  • Department of Social and Political Sciences, Philosophy, and Anthropology
  • Institute of Arab and Islamic Studies 
  • Department of Humanities and Social Sciences

There are no specific entry requirements for this subject activity strand. 

In order to pass the programme, you must attend a minimum of 5 out of 6 subject activity sessions, as well as the Exeter Scholars Student Conference.
