Please note the intended learning outcomes and methods of delivery are comparable across the Devon and Cornwall Medical Scholar strands. Five out the six sessions will be delivered at Medical School learning environments in your allocated locality.

Activity Locations

All subject activity sessions will take place on the University of Exeter St Luke's campus. Some sessions may involve visits to the Research, Innovation, Learning, and Development (RILD) building or the Clinical Skills space. 

  • Session 1: Introduction and Day in the life of a medical student
  • Session 2: Entry to medical school
  • Session 3: Life Science Resource Centre (LSRC) – anatomy and therapeutics led by clinicians and teaching fellows
  • Session 4: Problem-based learning (PBL) and Professional Development Groups (PDG) taster
  • Session 5: Clinical Skills taster. A hands-on set of activities with the Clinical Skills team delivered in our Clinical Skills Resource Centre in Exeter
  • Session 6: Careers/ clinical and holistic care planning

This subject activity strand has contributions from the following degree programmes:

  • BMBS Medicine 

Priority will be given to students studying Biology AND Chemistry at A Level or Higher IB (or equivalent) and those who have a demonstrable interest in pursuing a medical career.

In order to pass the programme, you must attend a minimum of 5 out of 6 subject activity sessions, as well as the Exeter Scholars Student Conference.
