This module aims to give you a unique opportunity to study mathematical sciences and/or related subjects outside the UK for a full semester. You will have the opportunity to gain knowledge of mathematical sciences and/or related subjects that are not covered at Exeter, or that are studied from a new perspective, or to work in departments that specialize in the field of your chosen MSci pathway. Furthermore, you will have the chance to experience the stimulating challenge of settling in to a new environment both socially and academically. In addition, you will discover different teaching methods, strengthening your academic skills. On a personal level, it provides you with an opportunity to develop independence through settling in a different country with its different habits, rules and culture, and to reflect on this experience. This alone is a highly valuable feature of the module.
Module Specific Skills and Knowledge:
1 demonstrate knowledge of mathematical sciences and/or related subjects at NQF Level 6 (or equivalent);
2 understand how mathematical sciences and/or related subjects are learned, perceived and applied outside the UK.
Discipline Specific Skills and Knowledge:
3 work with different approaches to teaching and learning.
Personal and Key Transferable/ Employment Skills and Knowledge:
4 work independently over an extended timescale.
This is specific to the host university concerned.
NB. For the purposes of assessment, you will study a minimum of the equivalent of 45 credits, but to maximise the experience you will normally study the equivalent of 60 credits.
