Module description
This module is one of a range of modules included in the With Proficiency in Entrepreneurship (WPIE) programme. (https://business-school.exeter.ac.uk/research/centres/entrepreneurship/studying/wpi/#a6)
This module enhances practical entrepreneurial experiences and action that you have engaged with and enables reflection and the application of entrepreneurial learning gained from these experiences.
You must have completed or be currently enrolled on one of the below programmes available at Exeter:
- IKEEP (Intrapreneurial Knowledge Exchange Enterprise Programme)
- Start-up Pre-Incubator or Incubator
- Green Consultants
The module unpacks and builds on skills, competencies and mindset growth that have been gained during the programme and enhances this with activities and relevant entrepreneurship concepts, frameworks, and tools.
The module’s core component is delivered online, and this is then explored and brought to life in a series of practical tutorials. This module aims to provide you with the concepts, frameworks, and tools needed to equip you for future entrepreneurial action and provides opportunities to discuss, practice and reflect on establishing a personal approach to developing a unique entrepreneurial career.
Strong engagement with both the module and the chosen extra-curricular programme is essential for success in this module and engagement will be monitored and is likely to impact final module grade. Examples of this include regular reflection and analysis activities throughout the module and presentations of learning at the end of the module which draw on engagement with the module content and the extra-curricular programme.
No curricular pre-requisite or co-requisite modules are required to take this module, only one of the entrepreneurial extra-curricular programmes listed above. Enrolment on an approved extracurricular programme is required to successfully enrol on this module.
This module is suitable for non-specialist students from any subject discipline and is intended for interdisciplinary pathways.
Module aims - intentions of the module
The aim of the module is to enhance your real world entrepreneurial experience with relevant entrepreneurship mindset, concepts, competencies, and skills required for a future of sustainable entrepreneurial action.
Whether you aim to be an intrapreneurial change agent, a Start-up founder or an industry leader seeking to disrupt industries for the better, this module utilises the practical nature of entrepreneurial learning and combines this with the power of reflection and the collation of a toolbox of entrepreneurial skills, tools, and frameworks.
When you complete this module, you should be equipped and energised to successfully continue into your own unique entrepreneurial career. This module is equally intended for students looking to be intrapreneurial employees, start-up founders or social or environmental change makers.

Syllabus plan
Online content will run simultaneously with the tutorial/lecture-based content.
The structure of the module introduces and explores the following topics in a series of online content blocks and unpacks these topics in practical tutorials and aims to individualise and apply learning to different contexts.
- Advanced Entrepreneurial Mindset
- Entrepreneurial Management and Leadership Approaches
- Practical Effectuation, Problem Based Working and Design Thinking in the workplace
- Intrapreneurial Action, Teams and Leadership
- Lean, Agile and Entrepreneurial Planning for organisations
- Regenerative value creation and impact measurement and action
- Iteration, Failure and Success management and culture
As you will need to have either completed or be enrolled on one of the prerequisite extracurricular programmes listed above, the workshops will then engage with and unpack the learning and skills you gained from your experience of entrepreneurial action during this programme.
This will enable you to engage with entrepreneurship theory, practice, and frameworks with the real-world context freshly in your mind and consider how to apply these further in new practical contexts. It will also encourage the formation of the adoption of an entrepreneurial mindset which continually builds on learning from recent action to increase impact and performance.
