Module description
The module consolidates and expands on the content delivered in the modules of the CertHE Applied HRM Apprenticeship, providing you with practical support to develop your apprenticeship portfolios and successfully evidence the skills and behaviours required by the People Professional Apprenticeship Standard. The module encourages critical reflection by adopting a student-led and workplace learning approach by sharing lived experience, and gathering workplace feedback to change behaviour, accept personal accountability and enable better performance in yourself and others. Successful people professionals need to lead by example whilst developing a culture of trust and challenge and balance the interests of your organisation with the needs of your customers, society, and the environment. To foster these skills and behaviours the module content combines three professional development perspectives:
- Self– knowing our own thoughts, actions, and effectiveness,
- Others– understanding how we develop and influence others, and finally,
- Organisation– understanding our contribution and impact within and beyond the organisation.
Using these perspectives, you are guided to complete your portfolios and prepare for End Point Assessment.
Module aims - intentions of the module
The module aims to provide a bridge between theory and practice. It runs concurrently with the modules in the CertHE Applied HRM Apprenticeship culminating when the Presentation Proposal scoping document is submitted. During the module you will complete a portfolio that evidences your learning across the programme. The portfolio will showcase your achievement of the Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours outlined in the People Professional Apprenticeship Standard; providing examples from your working practice of how you have applied your learning in the workplace. Your final portfolio will inform the Professional Discussion as part of your End Point Assessment for your apprenticeship. It is a valuable record of how you have embedded knowledge, and developed skills and behaviours throughout your learning journey.

Syllabus plan
The syllabus is interwoven with all course modules drawing from and building on content and materials covered in the course modules. The module will include taught webinars, one following each of the modules and associated self-guided learning activities and peer-led action learning groups. The syllabus content will reflect current people management debates and direct the application of people professional skills and behaviours in the workplace. The module will provide protected time for portfolio development with guidance and support from Academic Mentors to evidence academic and vocational learning in the portfolio.

Re-assessment notes
Deferral – if you have been deferred for any assessment you will be expected to submit the relevant assessment. The mark given for a re-assessment taken as a result of deferral will not be capped and will be treated as it would be if it were your first attempt at the assessment.

Referral – if you have failed the module overall (i.e. a final overall module mark of less than 40%) you will be expected to submit the relevant assessment. The mark given for a re-assessment taken as a result of referral will be capped at 40%
