5th Workshop Expertise (December 2022)

The purpose of this two-day workshop was to discuss the multifaceted role of ‘expertise’ across Early Modern Europe. Thanks to Andrea Addobbati and the financial support of the University of Pisa, this was a larger event, where we shall have a wider discussion on the contested role of ‘experts’ together with Guillaume Calafat, Isabella Cecchini, Rodrigo da Costa Dominguez, Maurits den Hollander, Pierre Gervais, Stefania Gialdroni & Emma Prevignano.

4th Workshop PhDs Workshop (December 2020)

Given the travel constraints due to Covid19 this workshop took place on line and was dedicated to the PhD candidates. They all presented their research, and the whole team commented on it and provided feedback.

 

3rd Workshop  Governance (December 2019)

The AveTransRisk Project Team and several high-profile experts met on Friday 13 December 2019 at the Digital Humanities Lab at the University of Exeter.

The purpose of this one-day workshop was to discuss the peculiarities of ‘governance’ and the way these were articulated within General Average across Early Modern Europe.

The AveTransRisk team benefitted from the expertise of Catia Antunes (Leiden) and Will Pettigrew (Lancaster).

2nd Workshop  Transferring and Translating Concepts in Law and History (December 2018)

The AveTransRisk Project Team and several high-profile experts met on Friday 14 December 2018 at the VUB U-residence in Brussels.

The purpose of this one-day workshop was to discuss the challenges of legal translation and share and exchange problems and solution encountered researching and studying this topic. In addition to the AveTransRisk team we benefitted from the expertise of Nandini Chatterjee (Exeter), Albrecht Cordes (Frankfurt), Nick Foster (SOAS, London), Heikki Pihlajamäki (Helsinki), and Giacomo Todeschini (Trieste).

1st Workshop  Database conception and design (December 2017)

The AveTransRisk Project Team and several high-profile experts met on Thursday 14 December 2017 in the Digital Humanities Lab (Streatham Campus, University of Exeter). The purpose of this one-day workshop was to review existing Databases and to learn from each other's experiences, including the challenges encountered in designing and developing large-scale Databases.

The workshop was facilitated by Professor Maria Fusaro, the Project's Principal Investigator, who was joined by the eight Senior Visiting Fellows and the four PhD students. Additionally, we welcome University of Exeter academics and members of the Digital Humanities Team. 

We are particularly grateful to Professor Silvia Marzagalli who shared her insights on Navigocorpus and to Dr Lodewijk Petram and Dr Jelle van Lottum who discussed CLARIAH.
