Admissions
Support for University staff
The Admissions Office processes over 47,000 applications each year, and provides advice, guidance, and management information throughout the admissions cycle.
International qualification guides
A significant proportion of our postgraduate applicants, and an increasing number of our undergraduate applicants are international students. When processing applications, the Admissions office makes an assessment on the equivalency of the overseas qualification to a UK degree level. This information can then be used to make a decision on the application.
The International Office has developed an internal qualifications guide, based on the combined knowledge of our International Officers, and experience in assessing qualifications. This is a password protected area, so you may need to contact the International office if you do not already have permission to access this data.
Admissions reports
A wide range of useful management information, including national data and competitor analysis. We provide regular College and Departmental level application statistics, and monthly pivot tables, allowing Colleges to see UG, PGT, and PGR information at programme and decision level.
Policies and procedures
The University of Exeter believes that a diverse community is an essential part of its core values, and that diversity amongst our student body enriches learning, teaching, and research. The University’s Undergraduate Admissions Policy and Postgraduate Admissions Policy sets out the means by which we will encourage and welcome applicants with different educational and social backgrounds. The policy on English Language waivers was reviewed at the Admissions and Widening Participation Policy Group on 17th May 2011.
Eligibility for student DBS checks
There is a legal requirement to ensure we only ask for DBS checks as and when they are required following due process. In order to ensure we comply with this, we ask colleagues to complete the following proforma and return to admissionspolicy@exeter.ac.uk so a decision can be made on whether this is required of an applicant in relation to their studies. If you have any queries about this process or you have a query regarding a check for a total student cohort, please contact Kim Hearth, admissionspolicy@exeter.ac.uk ext 6378
